Arik Air, Nigeria and West Africa’s largest carrier, has offered to sponsor any of London-based Nigerian boxer, Larry ‘The Natural’ Ekundayo’s fights in Nigeria.
The offer was made on Thursday by the Chairman of Arik Air, Sir Joseph Arumemi-Ikhide, when the welterweight boxer – who is on the sponsorship bill of Arik Air – paid a Thank-You visit to the airline’s head office in Ikeja, Lagos.
Sir Arumemi-Ikhide, who stated that Arik Air would be willing to pick up the bill for the fight in Nigeria, is happy with Larry’s progress in professional boxing and promised to be present at the ring side when he fights for the African Boxing Union (ABU) crown in London in October.

The Arik Air Chairman disclosed that his interest in boxing and sports generally was influenced by his late father who was a boxing enthusiast.

Larry, who was accompanied on the visit by another London-based Nigerian boxer, Olusegun Ajose, and his coach, Daniel Adekunle, was full of praises to Arik Air for all the support he has received in his quest to become a world champion. He promised not to let the company and Nigeria down.

The welterweight boxer shot into the limelight in 1998 when he became the Nigerian Amateur Bantamweight Champion. Larry Ekundayo was the winner of the 2012 Professional Betfair Light Middle Prizefighter Tournament.
