APC youths slam Oyo Commissioner over alleged abuse of office

A forum of All Progressives Congress Youths in Afijio Local Government, Oyo State, have cautioned the Commissioner for Local Governments and Chieftaincy Matters, Bimbo Kolade, against alleged abuse of his office to circumvent party’s progress.
Kolade, a member of APC, is from Ward 4, Fiditi in the area.
The youths, drawn from all the 10 wards of the local government area, gave the warning at a press conference held at Fiditi.
In his address, Chairman of the forum, Engineer Adunbi Mukaila,  said the warning became imperative in view of unrestrained non-chalant attitude of the commissioner to the party machineries.
He alleged that Kolade does not have respect for the wards and local party executives, leaders and elders, adding that the commissioner flagrantly disregards party’s decisions and unilaterally dictates the pace to the detriment of the people of the area.
According to him, ‘’ due to his intimacy with the Governor, the commissioner sees everyone both in the party and local government area as his subordinates who should be coaxed into submission. Whenever the party takes decision on political appointments, including membership
of the council caretaker committee, such decision when presented to the commissioner’s office for delivery to the Governor is treated with levity. A new list of political nominees unknown to the party and who are aliens in the area will, thereafter, erupts from the commissioner’s office and presented to the Governor for approval’’.
Mukaila stated that efforts made by the party leaders and elders to meet the Governor in order to know the truth were usually frustrated by the commissioner.
Said he, ‘’Commissioner Bimbo Kolade should recall that his crafty attitude and abuse of office led to his suspension for about two months by the Governor. Ironically, the same party leaders and elders
who the commissioner disregarded and disrespected rallied round and
saved him from being removed from office’’.
Muraina further hinted that until his present appointment, Bimbo
Kolade  had  also served under this administration as Commissioners
for Agriculture and Rural Development, Works and Transport, as well as
 Lands and Housing.
He challenged the commissioner to showcase to the world his
achievements to the people of the area in all the portfolios held so
far.
‘’Besides, the commissioner has no electoral value, as available
records showed that he had never delivered his polling unit, let alone
Ward to the party in previous elections. The opposition had always
been the gallant winners’’.
The forum, therefore, urged the commissioner to change his attitude to
the party, in order to create a new chapter of hope, trust and support
from the people of the area to the present administration.
A word, he said, is enough for the wise.
