Annang women of Akwa Ibom extraction have directed Mrs Patience Ibanga Akpabio to immediately apologise to her brother-in-law, Sen. Godswill Akpabio over her allegations of murder against the Senate President.

The group threatened to ostracise Patience Ibanga Akpabio, over what they described as her campaign of calumny against the senate president, if she failed to heed to their directive.

This is contained in a statement, jointly signed by Uduak Essien (Canada) and Mary Enang (United Kingdom), President and Secretary of the Annang Women Advocacy Network International (AWANI).

The group berated Patience Ibanga Akpabio for accusing the Senate President of murder without providing proof.

“AWANI will not stand while you, for reasons known only to you, attempt to pull down our community, its values and our illustrious son.

“We, therefore, issue this solemn warning for you to withdraw your venomous allegations, before it’s too late.

“We are watching and ready to institute “ngwo ntie” against you as is our Annang custom and age long traditional practice by women, for women that angered the land.

“If invoked, this practice will make Annang land unfruitful for you and you cannot sow or reap positively or benefit in any way from Annang and her people until the right thing is done.”

They described Patience Akpabio’s social media posts against Akpabio as a sin against God and man.

According to them, insulting and disgracing a brother-in-law, or husband, children, grandchildren in the manner done against the senate president may attract the wrath of God and man in accordance with Annang tradition.

“As mothers, wives and daughters, we are deeply aggrieved that a wife would become the mouthpiece for scandal against a man who sits as an elder of our land, against her husband, against her own children and children’s children.

“Your actions are a direct affront to the respect and decorum we hold sacred in Annang land. It is disturbing to witness such public desecration of dignity and decency.”

“Let this be the final word from the mothers and daughters of Annang land. Heed this warning and retrace your steps. Make amends.”
