Archbishop Okoh cautions Anglican Church against tribalism, ethnocentrism

Okoh

Most Rev. Nicholas Okoh, Primate Anglican Communion, Church of Nigeria, has advised the Federal Government to study and document Boko Haram activities to work out strategies to curb the menace.
Okoh gave the advice at the dedication of the Episcopal House, Chapel of the Resurrection, Conference Hall and other residential blocks at Wuye District, on Friday in Abuja.
He said such documentation should be comprehensive enough to be able to give an account of all the anger, fights, and killings of innocent souls and what the people have done that made the sect to take up arms against them.
“There should be a document that this is why they are fighting. This is their anger; this is what Nigerians have done against them and why they have taken up arms against us.
“Without doing all these we are just rubbing pomade on their faces so I don’t think it is the right thing at this moment without taking any concrete steps.
“Otherwise, another group of people will rise up and do something nasty and then they will ask for amnesty again.
He, however, called on Nigerians to be security conscious and learn some lessons and stop seeing security as government affair alone, adding that it was wrong, as most people dying were not in the government.
According to Okoh, security and politics is the same thing because the people who manage politics are the same people who manage security.
On the part of the Episcopal House dedication, he said that the work was not delayed from the foundation laying in 2014 and thanked God for the progress so far.
