Anger as cow meat seller is butchered during carnival in Iseyin

Tragedy struck recently at Ekunle area of Iseyin, Oyo State, when some yet to be identified assailants stabbed a 20-year-old cow meat seller, Fodilulahi Joju Tajudeen, to death during a carnival.
According to an eye witness, the incident occurred about 2:30 am on the ill-fated day when about four persons who posed to be friends of the deceased invited him for settlement of a misunderstanding with some of his friends.
It was further gathered that on getting to the place, the
hoodlums descended on Joju, stabbed him severally in the chest before he gave up the ghost.
 After the murder, the criminals were said to have taken the
deceased’s lifeless body to his shop at Jagun Market where he was dumped.
While Joju’s lifeless body was being dumped early in the morning, a man who was said to be receiving fresh air in front of his house noticed some strange movement and immediately put on light of the torch with him to know what was happening.
The unknown criminals were said to have taken to their heels and left the corpse to avoid being identified.
When contacted, father of the deceased, Chief Sijuara Tajudeen, who wept uncontrollably, described the incidence as very sad.
Chief Sijuara, who is also the Parakoyi of Koso-Iseyin, said: “I just cannot understand the rationale behind my son’s murder. My son was peace loving, gentle, hale and hearty. Nothing was wrong with him when last I saw him, only to be called that the corpse of my child was found in the market where he sold his meat. How did this happen? I am
appealing to the law enforcement agencies to fish out all those involved in the killing of my son, and let them face the full wrath of the law. This is too much for me to bear’’.
Confirming the incident,  the Divisional Police Officer in- charge of Iseyin, Mr. Abayomi Faniyi,  said no arrest has so far been made, but investigation on the matter is still on.
Meanwhile, aggrieved youths in the town have expressed strong indignations over  the dastardly act and how the matter is being handled by the police.
Spokesman for the cross-section of the youth, Mr. Adebare Usman, said: “It is indeed disheartening that such criminal act could happen in the town. While we commiserate with the deceased’s family, we are very unhappy at how the matter is being investigated by the police. How could such an incident happened and the police is still dragging cold feet on arrest of suspects?’’
Usman, who urged top echelon of the police and other security agencies to wade into the matter and apprehend the perpetrators without further delay, warned that the youth would do everything possible to ensure that the matter is not swept under the carpet.
