Anambra wins NNPC South-East Science Quiz Competition

Master Caleb Madu of Grundtvig International School, Oba, Anambra State, on Wednesday, won the South-East zonal finals of the 2022 NNPC National Science Quiz Competition held in Enugu.

In the quiz which was based on five subjects – Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English language, Madu scored 55 points to emerge the winner.
Master Ebenezer Obinna (Imo) scored 45 points and Master Gracia Chima, representing Ebonyi came third with 40 points. Miss Nneoma Odo representing Enugu State got 35 points while Master Chukwuka Ugwumba, representing Abia got 10 points
Anambra wins NNPC South-East Science Quiz Competition
The representatives of Anambra, Imo and Ebonyi states would represent the South East zone in the national finals that will hold in NNPC Towers, Abuja.

Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs Division of the NNPC Ltd, Garba Muhammad, said that over the years, NNPC had made interventions in the education and capacity development areas, as part of it’s Corporate Social Responsibility.

Represented by the Manager, Community Impact Investment, Mrs Doris Ozoemena-Ohia, Muhammad explained that the first stage of the competition was held across the 774 local government areas of the country; after which they moved to the state level , from there to the zonal level .

Speaking, Enugu State Commissioner for Education, Prof. Uchenna Eze, commended NNPC for promoting education especially science education through the quiz competition and other areas.

Eze, who was represented by the Director of Science Education, Margaret Ayogu,
urged science lecturers to take advantage of NNPC’s annual quiz competition to better the lot of their students and help them secure NNPC scholarships.

Speaking shortly after winning the competition in Enugu, Madu assured the people of the South-East that he and his colleagues would make the zone proud at the national finals. “I am going back to school to put in more serious study and hard work ahead of the national finals in Abuja,” he said.
