A Federal High court in Port Harcourt, on Thursday ordered the transfer of a case between two factions of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Anambra to a Federal High court , Akwa.
The judge, Justice Hyeladzira Nganjiwa, gave the order in Port Harcourt at the resumed hearing of the case between the factions .
He adjourned the case to October 8 for mention.
Mr Ejike Oguebego, a PDP factional chairman, had gone to court to challenge the party’s National Working Committee’s (NWC) decision to recognise Mr Ken Emeakayi’s faction of the party.
Emeakayi’s faction produced Dr. Tony Nwoye as the party’s candidate for the Nov. 16 governorship election in Anambra state.
The PDP’s NWC had recognised Dr Tony Nwoye as the party’s governorship candidate for the November election in Anambra state.
Oguebego’s faction, on the other hand, produced Sen. Andy Uba as its candidate for the November election.
Nganjiwa had on Sept. 12 ordered that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) should recognise Uba as the party’s governorship candidate pending the determination of the substantive suit.
He also ordered that ‘’the status quo’’ be maintained and all parties should respect the May 31 ruling of a High court in Akwa.
Mr Mmecha Kanu, counsel to PDP, told newsmen that there was no problem with the transfer because the case was filed in Port Harcourt when the courts were on vacation.
