Olisa Metuh engages new lawyer

Despite a Federal High Court, Port Harcourt  order that Nicholas Ukachukwu is the candidate, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Wednesday  insisted that Mr Tony Nwoye, remained its candidate for the November 16  Anambra governorship election.

PDP National Publicity Secretary, Mr Olisa Metuh, made this known when he spoke with newsmen in Abuja.

Metuh said that Dr Amanchukwu Ezekiel would serve as Nwoye`s running mate.

He stressed that the party`s National Working Committee (NWC) had directed its legal team to handle all court litigations concerning the issue.

The party spokesman maintained that the NWC would stand on the primaries conducted and supervised by the party.

He, however, said that the party would not be distracted by the `uproar’ at the National Assembly on September 17.

“Because we are doing reconciliation, we will reframe from commenting on the actions of our aggrieved brothers.

“Our party has a constitution which says that we should not engage in unauthorised publicity of party dispute, for now, we will keep quiet,’’ Metuh said.

He expressed optimism that the crisis within the party`s ranks would be resolved soon, adding that the reconciliation process was still ongoing.

“We think that the differences are for us to resolve them so that we can move forward. So, we are very optimistic.

“The party has offered a platform for these people to serve their states and the party at the highest level.

“I believe that they are grateful and that at the end of the day, the debt they are owning this party is more than they had given, so, they must take that into consideration.’’
