Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State, on Thursday, urged the House of Assembly to approve the creation of 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDA).
Speaker of the House, Mr Suraj Adekunbi, read the governor’s letter during the plenary session in Abeokuta.
The letter stated that the request was in furtherance of the state government’s attempt at meeting the yearnings of the people through the delivery of democratic dividends.
According to the letter, the creation of the LCDAs would also bring government nearer to the people and engender further development.
“I forward herewith the list of the existing and new Local Council Development Areas totaling 57 in all for your kind consideration.’’

The proposed LCDAs are Abeokuta North West, Abeokuta North East and Oke Ogun from Abeokuta North Local Government, nz Abeokuta South East and Abeokuta South West from Abeokuta South Council Area.

In Ado Odo Ota Local Government, are Ado Odo, Agbara Igbesa, Ota West, Sango Ijoko while Ewekoro Local Government would have Ewekoro North and Ifo local government would have Ifo Central, Coker Ibogun and Ifo South.

Others are Ijebu East Central from Ijebu East local government, Ijebu North Central, Ijebu Igbo West and Ago Iwoye from Ijebu North local government, while Yemoji would be created from Ijebu North East local government.

Ijebu Ode South LCDA from Ijebu Ode local government, Remo Central from Ikenne local government, Afon from Imeko Afon local government, Ipokia West and Idi Iroko from Ipokia local government.

Oba, Obafemi, Ofada Mokoloki from Obafemi Owode local government while Opeji, Ilugun would be carved out from Odeda local government, Legeru, Ifesowapo from Odogbolu local government.

Ogun Water Side East from Ogun Water Side local government, Remo North East from Remo local government, Sagamu Remo West, Sagamu Remo South from Sagamu local government.

Iju and Ketu would be carved from Yewa North local government and under Yewa South Local government there would be Yewa South East.

These would be in addition to the 20 council areas in the state.
