Ogun Govt pays N4.7bn to council pensioners in eight months

Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, on Friday flagged off campaigns for the February 28 gubernatorial election with an assurance of aggressive even distribution of wealth and capital projects that would engender the urbanisation of the rural areas across the state.
Amosun, who said the best is yet to come for the state, was speaking at Ode-Remo in the Remo North Local Government Area of the state where he visited all the 10 wards in the area.
“Though people say we give too much priority to road construction and infrastructure, yet a lot still needs to be done, especially in our rural areas.
On my way here, I saw some of our roads that are in poor conditions, though you are aware of what we are doing across the state and in your neighbourhoods. A lot still needs to be done to ensure the rural dwellers enjoy the dividends of democracy,” he added.
The governor said his administration would not renege on its responsibility of providing basic social amenities and develop the rural communities in its bid to ensure better lives for the Ogun populace, assuring that ” we would continue to build schools, healthcare centres and construct roads until our people have felt the wind of change blowing across the state.”
He added that in the last four years, his administration has done a lot to open up the state for investment and industrialisation that has spurred developments in other sectors of the economy, noting that “but we focus more on making life worthwhile for the rural dwellers.”
