Ammani takes over as Enugu CP

Newly posted Commissioner of Police (CP), Enugu State Police Command, Ahmed Ammani, has taken over from the immediate past CP, Abubakar Lawal.

A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Enugu Police Command, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, on Thursday in Enugu, said
that” the newly posted Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Ammani, fdc, has on 24th August, 2022 taken over and assumed duty as the 27th Commissioner of Police of the Command. He takes over from CP Abubakar Lawal, fdc, who has been redeployed to Kano State Command, as the Commissioner of Police”.

According to the statement, “CP Ahmed Ammani hails from Malumfashi Local Government Area of Katsina State and holds a Bachelor Arts (BA) Honours Degree in Hausa and Islamic Religious Studies from Bayero University Kano, a Master of Science (M.Sc) Degree in Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice from Ahmadu Bello University Zaria and a Post-Graduate Certificate in Corruption Studies from Hong Kong University.

“He was appointed into the Nigeria Police Force in 1992 and commissioned as an Assistant Superintendent of Police, from where he has risen to the elated rank of Commissioner of Police, serving in different Zonal and State Commands, Formations and on Secondment at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC). He has held several positions and offices including:

“Being the Divisional Police Officer of different Police Divisions in Nasarawa State Police Command for a period of over ten (10) years, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) in-charge of Zonal CID, Zone 7 Abuja Area Commander of Gusau Area Command of Zamfara State Police Command, Director Internal Affairs (DIA), EFCC, Abuja, Deputy Commissioner of Police in-charge of Administration, Zone 15 Zonal Command, Maiduguri, Borno State and Deputy Commissioner of Police in-charge of Operations, Ondo State Police Command.

“He also participated in several Peace Support Operations, including United Nations Transitional Administration Mission in East Timor (UNTAET) and the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISCOM). And until his promotion and posting to the Command as Commissioner of Police, he was a Participant of the National Defence College Nigeria Course.

” CP Ammani has in the course of his service to the nation attended several leadership and professional trainings, seminars and workshops including: PMF Combat Operations Course, Advance Detective Course, Tactical and Leadership Course, Counter Terrorism Training, Financial Intelligence and Fraud Management Techniques Course, and the International Human Rights Standard for Modern Policing Seminar. He also attended the National Defence College Nigeria Course 30, which earned him the status of Fellow of the National Defence College (fdc).

” A seasoned and versatile Senior Police Officer, CP Ahmed Ammani, brings with him a wealth of administrative, operational and intelligence/investigation experience garnered over a period of more than thirty (30) years, which he pledges to replicate in combating existing and emerging acts of crime and criminality in Enugu State. Hence, he solicits the maximum support and cooperation of the citizenry, especially in the area of timely sharing of credible information and/or intelligence”, Ndukwe said.
