Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State on Thursday said the stretch of Lagos-Badagry Expressway from Okokomaiko to Seme Border would be concessioned.

Ambode made the assertion while inspecting some ongoing projects in the state.

The governor said he was committed to ensuring that the 10-lane road with modern rail track would be completed on schedule before the end of 2019.

Ambode said though, the state government awarded the project and has been financing the work; it has resolved to give the project to a concessionaire who would push it from Okokomaiko to Seme border.

He urged the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC), the contractor handling the project, to complete the first, second and third segments to Okokomaiko on scheduled.

Ambode reiterated the government’s commitment to economic expansion and opening up of the road to real estate and harness its tourism potential.

The governor had earlier directed that construction work should commence within the next four weeks on Irede Road in Oriade Local Council Development Area of the state.

Ambode, moved by the deplorable condition of the road, said that its economic value was unquantifiable, because it was a strategic link road to Lagos-Badagry Expressway.

He said that the road would help commerce and boost the proposed 500 hundred housing units in the area.

Ambode also inspected the network of roads and bridges under construction at Aboru in Alimosho area of the state.

The governor ordered contractor handling the project to complete the work by first quarter of next year.
