A former Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Mohammed Umar, has been arraigned before a Federal High Court in Abuja on allegations of embezzling four billion, eight hundred and forty-six million, six hundred and thirty thousand naira belonging to the Nigerian Air Force.
Air Marshal Umar, who was arraigned on a seven-count charge of money laundering, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Lawyer to the accused person, Hassan Liman, subsequently moved the application for the bail of his client which was not opposed by the prosecutor, Sylvanus Tahir.
Justice Binta Murtala-Nyako admitted the accused person to bail in self recognizance.
The court ordered that he deposit his international passport with the court and must not travel outside the jurisdiction of the court without permission.
