The attention of the Alaafin’s Palace has been drawn to subterranean acts being perpetrated by some officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force in Oyo town, who engaged in extorting from unsuspecting residents under the guise of security breaches.

Alaafin Owoade

These mindless officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force told the affected residents that the directive to embark on such illegal and criminal assignment was handed down to them by His Imperial Majesty, Iku Baba Yeye, the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Engineer Akeem Abimbola Owoade 1.

The Palace Media and Publicity Department hereby urges residents of Oyo and its environs to disregard such fabrication and false information milling around from those who are expected to provide security to lives and property but turned pawn in the flesh of detection of crimes and criminal activities I Oyo and its environs.

His Imperial Majesty, Oba Owoade has said he did not authorise any one, group or security personnel to terrorise, hood wink or harass people of the serene town of Oyo and that members of the public should be vigilant and resist any unlawful attempt by any security personnel to inflict untold hardships on them by these overzealous officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force.

His Imperial Majesty has also directed that henceforth, residents MUST keep vigil on name tag(s) and number(s) attached to Police personnel, who are hell bent in extorting from them, and if possible video recordings, and to subsequently report immediately such erring police personnel to the Oyo Area Police Commander or the nearest Police Station for decisive action.
