All Africa Games: Falcons vow to nail Tanzania

The Super Falcons of Nigeria have promised to nail the Tanzania women’s team in Wednesday’s second match of the All Africa Games in Congo Brazzaville.
This comes just days after both countries played out a goalless draw in a 2017 AFCON qualifier in Dar es Salaam.
The coach Christopher Danjuma-led team thrashed hosts Congo 5-1 in the opening game of the competition and will looking forward to do same against Tanzania.
Nigeria and Tanzania have met once in a group game at African Women’s Championship in 2010 and Nigeria won 3-0.
Falcons will be counting on the likes of France-based striker Desire Oparanozie, who netted a hat-trick against Congo, and Esther Sunday for goals as they stay on track for a third AAG gold.
Top stars like Asisat Oshoala, Francesca Ordega, Josephine Chukwunonye, Ngozi Okobi are not part of Congo 2015 due to injury and club engagements.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) have announced they plan to appoint a new coach for the country’s women’s team, the Super Falcons, in the next two weeks.

This decision followed an emergency executive committee meeting in Port Harcourt on Monday.

The Falcons are under Chris Danjuma on a caretaker basis after Edwin Okon was fired following a disastrous 2015 World Cup outing.

The NFF have been shopping for a foreign coach for the women’s team, but may be held back because of a cash crunch.

The Falcons are the reigning African champions but they have again failed to qualify for the Olympics for the second straight time after they crashed out to Equatorial Guinea recently.
