Super Eagles midfielder, Alex Iwobi, has said that the understanding in the current team was a result of time spent together overtime in the national team.

Iwobi on Tuesday at the pre-match meeting of the semifinal tie against Morocco on Wednesday stated that the Super Eagles have grown from boys to men in the national team together.

He added that the spirit of unity in the team on and off the pitch is an additional weapon for them to get results for Nigeria.

The Fulham of England Star said: “The difference is the sense of brotherhood, family environment that we have created for each other. Of course, at previous AFCONs, we did really well, the team has been so strong but at the same time, the players were young and learning about each other.

“I feel like right now everybody is entering their prime and doing well respectively for their clubs and the joy and chemistry that we have when we are playing for our country is not just on the pitch, also off the pitch there’s a big unity, big family. It starts from the coach then the players. It’s more like brotherhood and it’s nice because it’s like we are one big family and on the pitch, we are fighting for each other.

‘I feel the unity is bringing out the best not just in me but in everyone and this has helped us in getting the results so far especially in this tournament. I also believe this spirit will get stronger going forward beyond this tournament”.
