*Adenuga: we raise funds for orphanage
The yearly gospel musical concert, Green Worship 2023, organised by Worship For Change, a non-governmental organisation founded to create awareness and support for indigent children, orphans and children with special needs, will hold on October 2.
Speaking about this year’s edition in Lagos on Tuesday, the convener of Green Worship, Wale Adenuga, explained that the concert is aimed at creating awareness and raising funds, which are disbursed to charity centres to help orphanages, leprosy centres and other care-giving outfits, for the benefit of the needy in the society.
According to him, the Green Worship has made tremendous impact on the activities of caregivers through generous financial assistance, while the proceeds gotten from the Green Worship concert in the previous one had been disbursed to charity organisations that care for vulnerable children and those with special needs.
“We are organising another concert on October 2, at Fountain of life Church to raise money for other set of vulnerable children. Last year, we were able to raise N15 million which was given to five charity organizations across Nigeria.
“We started caring for the orphanage since 2016. Among those who have benefitted from the money raised through the concept are leprosy community in Abeokuta, Joy in Africa Foundation, Asaba, The let Central Palsy kids, Learn foundation, Lagos, To Omo re School, Ilorin, Sechild Centre, Lagos and Red dog foundation in Anambra while each head of the various beneficiaries thanked green worship and appreciated what we did for them individually.
“The leprosy children were given school uniforms, pencils, shoes, some renovated and other with their needs. Green Worship is a concept, we have 14 artistes performing at the October 2 concert, people will enjoy great music from the best of best gospel artistes, and we also touch people’s hearts.
“Every year we organise concert, the proceed of last year we raised was N15 million and the proceeds went to five charities, while the pure soul foundation we were able to renovate their kitchen for the altruistic children to lean better in a clean environment. These are the impact we make through green worship.”
Àdenuga declared: “We don’t keep any fund raised from the concert, it goes out immediately as charity to the vulnerables.
“We are trying this year not to raise less to what we raised last year, we don’t have specific amount, but it could be billions of naira, there is no bound to the amount we want to raise. Any organization that wants to benefit from us, we have to do our findings and we don’t just give charity to anybody. Since we started we have impacted 34 organisations.
“What prompted the green worship was just to be of help to the indigent children. Sometimes, we get donations from corporate organisations, as for the government if they had done what they are supposed to do, I think there wouldn’t be need for what we are doing here presently.”
However, some of the Gospel artistes that will thrill guests at the concert are Tope Alabi, Cobham Asuquo, Waje, Nathaniel Bassey others are Bob fitts, Moses Bliss and Wale Àdenuga, An endless Ocean, King James, E Daniel, David Nkennor and Grace Levites.
Meanwhile, Tobiloba Ajayi, the Chief Responsibility Officer, Kids Central Palsy foundation, said they are one of the beneficiaries of the green worship.
Ajayi said in January 2023, they received a cheque of N3 million, which is the largest donor since creation of the organisation.
“Because of the donation, 18 children had their school fees paid for two terms and the new session. And 10 children also benefitted from our small development programme of children cebral palsy, we also had 12 families who benefitted from emergency medical care and therapist, one of things that happened was that the cost of routine medication for our students skyrocketed.
“The cost went up three per cent leaving a lot of them stranded on how we are going to afford their medication so that they don’t have seizure. As a result of the donation from green worship, the families were impacted, we thank the green worship for supporting us”.
