The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, would at this year’s edition of the Oranyan festival unveil a $300,000 (about N70 million) mobile hospital donated to his community.
Most Rev. Ayo Ladigbolu, the General Coordinator, Oranyan 2015 Planning Committee, said this in Oyo on Monday at a news conference on the celebration.
He said that the well-equipped mobile hospital was facilitated by two Oyo indigenes, Mr Bode Esuola, and his wife, Dr Anu, who are all residents of Maryland, the United States (U.S.).
Anu is the Chairperson, Health sub-committee of Community Dentistry on Wheels Incorporation, a firm owned by the couple.
The couple also facilitated the current medical and trade commission to the state under which no fewer than 2, 000 people would benefit from free medical check-up.
More than 60 people had already been listed for various surgical operations during the exercise.
Ladigbolu said the festival with theme, “Healthy Community-Vibrant Culture,“ would host 12 medical doctors from the U.S., two from Uganda as well as 20 from Nigeria.
He said the free medical check-up and surgeries would be the main focus of this year’s Oranyan festival.
Ladigbolu said the festival, which commenced on Thursday, would end on Saturday with a feature film, “Oronpotoniyun Obabirin Agbaye , “ shown in honour of the Alaafin.
The festival would feature quiz contest, football competition, Gbegiri/Oyo in Diaspora as well as arts and crafts exhibition.
