The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi 111, has
warned individuals or groups whose trade in stock are to unleash criminal onslaughts on defenceless and law abiding residents to quit the Oyo metropolis or face the full wrath of the law.
The paramount ruler, who was addressing residents,
said in as much as he would support continued expansion of the ancient town anchored on peaceful coexistence, as well as respect for law and order, any despicable or dastardly act would be vehemently resisted.
“As a ruler and permanent Chairman of the State Council of
Obas and Chiefs, it is my duty to ensure that the people, not only in my domain but the entire state, live in an atmosphere of peace and harmony, and devoid of any threats to lives and property. All those with criminal intents who chose Oyo as their base camps to perpetuate criminalities should have a re think now. ”
To actualise his determination in flushing out criminals from the ancient town and environs, the Alaafin, accompanied by his son and member, House of Representatives, representing Oyo Federal Constituency, Prince Adeniyi, recently met with the state governor, Abiola Ajimobi, over the matter. Meanwhile, a combined team of police from Durbar, Ojongbodu and Atiba divisions led by the Area Commander, ACP Oyeniyi Oyebade, has commenced security operations aimed at flushing out criminals.
During one of the operations in Ilaka, Oke Apo and Iseke areas, wraps of indian hemps were seized, while some hoodlums also arrested.
All the bases used for smoking Indian hemps were also dismantled.
