Al-Makura, APC, INEC, security agents rigged Nasarawa polls, alleges Maku

Former Information Minister and governorship candidate of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) in Nasarawa State, Mr. Labaran Maku, on Thursday accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Governor Tanko Al-Makura, and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of rigging elections in the North Central state.
To him, the April 11 governorship election in the state was ‘a fiction and a sham’.
Speaking in Wakma, his country home, he declared that INEC and Al-Makura perpetrated fraud during the exercise.
“It was a daylight robbery and I am going to challenge it in court. I will employ every available legitimate means to recover this stolen mandate.
“I will continue to employ legitimate means to recover my
mandate which was brazenly stolen by Governor Al-Makura and APC, carried out in connivance with INEC and security agents. Voting centres were invaded by armed thugs and security agents, thug denying my supporters access to polling units to exercise their voting rights. It is obvious that the election was rigged and result pre-arranged before it was
announced by INEC. To have their way, two persons were killed at Kwandere and another person in Lafia.
“Some people have asked why I have not congratulated the governor on his so-called re-election. How can I congratulate a thief? Al-Makura knows he did not win the election. INEC and security agents also know. If election is conducted free and fair in Nasarawa 10 times, I will win 10 times”.
