Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, on Tuesday, backed Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, in his fight with the Senator representing the FCT in the Upper Chamber of the National Assembly, Ireti Kingibe.

Wike

Akpabio, at the flag-off of the construction of a new bus terminal in Abuja, urged Wike to ignore Kingibe, who represents the Labour Party (LP) in the Red Chamber.
Akpabio

To Akpabio, Wike, the immediate past Governor of Rivers State who is having a running battle with his successor, Siminalayi Fubara, should avoid Kingibe’s distractions as he (Wike) has the support of majority of senators.
Akpabio spoke at the flag off of the Kugbo Bus and Taxi terminal which, to him, will bring Abuja to the level of other developed capitals in the world.
Wike and Kingibe

There is a face-off between Kingibe and Wike over the focus of projects in the FCT.
She believes Wike focuses in constructing and resurfacing roads inside highbrow areas of the FCT and neglecting sub-urban areas where majority of FCT residents live.
Because of that, Wike told her to go hang herself on a transformer, vowing that she would not be returned as the FCT Senator in 2027 so long as he remains minister.
Ireti Kingibe

Akpabio, who flagged off the commissioning of the Kugbo bus terminal, commended Wike and thanked President Bola Tinubu for appointing him as FCT Minister.
Akpabio said about Kingibe:
“I saw one of the legislators on television talking about you and mentioning the fact that she was not carried along. Well, she is a member of the Senate and once a decision is taken, she is bound by the decision.
Wike

“So, ignore every distraction and be rest assured that no matter what you do, not everybody will praise you. Others will still try to find fault”.
