Over the weekend, the President of The Senate, 𝗛.𝗘, 𝗦𝗲𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗚𝗼𝗱𝘀𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗔𝗸𝗽𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗼, 𝗖𝗢𝗡, made an unusual trip to Ogun State as a recipient of a traditional honour. A mammoth number of colleagues and friends accompanied him to the epoch making event.
It was a beautiful scene to behold as the legacies that define the man, Godswill Akpabio were on full display: the instinct of compassion, passion for uncommon development and the desire to leave people better than he met them.

So when he thundered, “I am travelling by road. I want to feel the pulse of my people”, it was vintage Akpabio displaying his well known attribute of empathy.
I can imagine, how his colleagues would have felt; all the same, a leader would always lead the way. Shaken to their foundation, they had to follow the people-friendly Senate President.
Armed with the paraphernalia of his office as the number three citizen of the Federal Republic Of Nigeria, Akpabio embarked on an uncommon rough journey to connect more with the reality faced by Nigerians. A trip of less than one hour, took him two hours plus. For me, I was not readily surprised, the President of the 10th Senate has a track record of visiting the creeks as Nigeria’s Minister, Ministry Of Niger Delta Affairs and taking risk in service of national interest.
This was one of the hardest and excruciating trips any government official would embark on especially, considering the insecurity, threats to life and other vices common to such hinterlands.
Akpabio showed boldness and courage and left a legacy of peace, developments, and a more united Niger Delta after his visit to the Creeks.
As the President Of The Senate, the man of compassion would have flown but that part of him that desires to deploy human, infrastructural developments and resources for greater good to the greatest number saw him going on a road trip.

Hundreds turned out in their numbers as the conferment of chieftaincy title, turned into a rally; as common with the 𝐔𝐍𝐂𝐎𝐌𝐌𝐎𝐍 𝐒𝐄𝐍𝐀𝐓𝐎𝐑. He assured the people of Ogun State, and beyond that roads’ rehabilitation, and other social amenities that will better the lives of the people would soon ensue even as he showered encomiums on their son, 𝗦𝗲𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗦𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗺𝗼𝗻 𝗢𝗹𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗲𝗸𝗮𝗻 𝗔𝗱𝗲𝗼𝗹𝗮 𝗖𝗢𝗡 (Ogun West) describing him as a credible mandate.

Akpabio, is a man familiar to legislative engagements and development, a legacy that made him well renowned as the Uncommon Governor Of Akwa Ibom State, given his transformational track record of the state as testimony of superlative performance.
This is the Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio that we know. A man conversant with economic blueprint of the renewed hope agenda; a man conversant with free education; a man familiar with development and prosperity of mankind; a man accustomed with the tenets of giving Nigeria a pride of place.
