Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed of Kwara State has approved the payment of March and April salaries and pensions of 24, 042 workers and pensioners, who have been cleared in the ongoing staff verification in the state.
The approval was communicated through a statement signed by Alhaji Isiaka Gold, the Alternate Chairman of the State Committee on Personnel Database Development.
The statement said Ahmed’s approval was as a result of the final clearance of the affected workers and pensioners by the Nigerian Interbank Settlement System (NIBBS).
Gold, who is also the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), said the payment would be made within the week.

The SSG said that 1, 427 workers and pensioners found to have submitted invalid Bank Verification Numbers (BVN) would have their entitlements withheld pending further investigation.

He said the governor also ordered that the 144 workers and pensioners who had issues with their BVN but whose defences were genuine be paid as well.

Gold said that Ahmed had also directed that 390 workers and pensioners found to be operating multiple accounts should be re -screened by the committee.

The SSG stressed that any worker or pensioner found to be fraudulently collecting salary or pension would be made to refund the monies and be punished.
