The Managing Director of ANOH Gas Processing Company (AGPC), Mr. James Makinde, has charged Board of Trustees of the company’s Host Community Development Trust (HCDT) to embrace collaboration and shared responsibility in the effective delivery of its mandate.

At the recent inauguration of HCDT in Owerri, the Imo State capital, which brought together government officials, traditional rulers, representatives of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), community stakeholders and AGPC management, Makinde, who was represented by the General Manager (Operations), Engr. Amaechi Nwogbe, emphasised the importance of building and sustaining a strong partnership between AGPC and its host communities through the effective implementation of HCDT framework, as provided under the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA).

The state Commissioner for Petroleum and Natural Resources, Barrister Emeka Mgbudem, commended the peaceful and transparent conduct of the trustee election process and underscored the need to sustain the HCDT structure as a catalyst for community development and social inclusion.

He urged the trustees to discharge their responsibilities with integrity, accountability, and a steadfast commitment to the welfare and progress of their respective communities.

NMDPRA representatives reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to fostering constructive collaboration between the operators and their host communities. They encouraged the new Board of Trustees to uphold the highest standards of transparency, accountability, and good governance in the execution of its mandate.

Traditional rulers and community leaders at the event expressed appreciation to AGPC for its unwavering commitment to stakeholder engagement and sustainable community development. They pledged their continued support for the success of the HCDT and the realisation of its developmental objectives.

A major highlight of the ceremony was the formal swearing-in and inauguration of the HCDT Board of Trustees, officially ushering the members into office and marking the commencement of their responsibilities under the Trust.

On behalf of Governor Hope Uzodimma, Mgbudem presented the PIA gazette to the Chairman of the HCDT Board of Trustees, Engr. Gideon Nwaeze, who expressed appreciation for the confidence reposed in the Board. He pledged the trustees’ commitment to promote transparency, inclusiveness, and sustainable development for the benefit of the host communities.

The successful inauguration of the HCDT Board of Trustees further reinforces AGPC’s commitment to the objectives of the PIA by fostering peaceful coexistence, strengthening stakeholder partnerships, and driving sustainable socio-economic development within its host communities.
