Bandits, on Monday morning, invaded UBE/LEA Primary School, Rama Village in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
When they left a few minutes later, scores of pupils and some teachers were abducted.
Freedom Online learned the attack took place around 9am.
A resident said: “They came in a convoy of motorcycles with guns. They invaded the school and started shooting. Everybody ran for cover. They took some of the pupils and teachers away. We saw a parent, who just dropped his child, running after them because they took his child away also”.
The incident happened a few days after bandits abducted some students of Federal College of Forestry Mechanisation, Afaka, Igabi Local Government Area of the state.
The Kaduna State Government confirmed the abduction of the primary school pupils and teachers.
Samuel Aruwan, Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, said in a statement that the pupils and teachers were abducted on Monday.
He, however, said that the number of those abducted has not been ascertained.
“The Kaduna State Government is receiving security reports of kidnapping of some pupils and teachers in a primary school located in Rema, Birnin Gwari local government area.
“According to preliminary reports, the incident occurred at an LEA Primary School in the LGA.
“The Kaduna State Government is currently obtaining details on the actual number of pupils and teachers reported to have been kidnapped and will issue a comprehensive statement as soon as possible,” he stated.
