National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has urged President Bola Tinubu to expedite action on the establishment of Ibom Deep Seaport to enhance development of the South-South zone.

National President of NYCN, Mr Solomon Adodo, stated this at a news conference in Uyo on Monday.

Adodo, who was in Uyo for the grand reception of Gov. Umo Eno into APC, said that the deep seaport, when established, would boost the economic future of the south-south zone and create employment opportunities for the teeming youth.

He called on the president to ensure the realisation of the deep seaport project in no distant time, as promised.

“We call on President Bola Tinubu to expedite action on the Ibom Deep Seaport project, a transformative initiative with the potential to unlock jobs, drive industrial growth and fortify our nation’s economic recovery.

“Akwa Ibom’s future as an industrial and maritime hub must not be delayed,” he said.

Adodo described the movement of Eno from PDP to APC as a courageous move that signalled his determination to secure the best future for Akwa Ibom people.

He said that the governor, being a responsible and visionary leader, took what he called ‘a people-driven decision’ to align the state with the transformational leadership of the president at the centre.

The national president urged Eno to work with all relevant stakeholders to sustain Tinubu’s transformative vision, even beyond 2027.

He also called on the governor to always amplify the creativity, resilience and enterprise of Akwa Ibom youths in all his dealings.

Adodo reassured Eno that with his alliance to the centre, those things would be easily achieved.

“Akwa Ibom must be at the heart of Nigeria’s renewed journey towards hope, growth and greatness.

“It is a courageous move that signals his determination to secure the best future for the state, one that aligns with the positive changes already reshaping our nation,” he said.

Adodo urged Eno to stay focused on the path of good governance, amplify the creativity, resilience and enterprise of Akwa Ibom youths and work with all stakeholders to sustain the state’s economic transformation.
