A two-time Africa Cup of Nations winner, Mohamed Aboutrika, has named the Super Eagles as the strongest team in the ongoing 2025 AFCON tournament following their victory over Algeria on Saturday.

Nigeria’s goals came from Victor Osimhen and Akor Adams.

Aboutrika praised the Super Eagles, saying they were better than the Algerians.

Aboutrika said on the Qatari channel beIN Sports, “The strongest team is the one that won, and Nigeria doesn’t have any clear weaknesses.

They were very present in person, and also skilled in their work. They have players who can create chances and forwards who are good at scoring, and they are very strong in physical and air battles.”

Aboutika highlighted four Super Eagles players for their performances – Victor Osimhen, Alex Iwobi, Wilfred Ndidi and Akor Adams.

“Osimhen was great in attack, Iwobi and Ndidi did well in midfield, Akor was strong on the right wing, and they had a solid defence, so they played almost perfectly.

It’s a well-earned win because Nigeria played better and were stronger during the game.”

Nigeria is set to face the host country Morocco in the semi final on Wednesday, January 14.
