*World Cup miss ‘lit fire in players’

A former Chelsea forward and African Football legend, Didier Drogba, has commended the current form of the Super Eagles at the ongoing African Cup of Nations in Morocco.
Drogba said the Nigerian team was one step ahead of all other contenders even before the crunch semifinal match against the host team billed for Wednesday.
“The Super Eagles have gone up a level. The intensity is crazy, the pressure is relentless and you can feel the hunger in the way they play. Missing the World Cup lit a fire in them. AFCON is now the target, and winning it would be the perfect response.

“The Super Eagles are not just playing to win games. They are playing to make a statement.
“This team looks angry, focused and ready to go all the way ,”he said.

Drogba believes Nigeria can defeat Morocco and go ahead to win the AFCON 2025 trophy to make up for the disappointment of missing the ticket to the 2026 World Cup finals.
