Adeyemi, a lawmaker with uncommon passion for constituents, says Gbajabiamila

Majority leader of the House of Representatives, Femi

Gbajabiamila, has described member representing Oyo Federal Constituency, Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi, as a lawmaker with uncommon candour, whose sense of devotion to his constituents remains a source of inspiration.

Gbajabiamila gave the remarks on Saturday at the presentation of working tools for 211 persons successfully trained in vocational acquisitions.

Beneficiaries of the empowerment programme held at Atiba Hall, Oyo and personally financed by Adeyemi were drawn from the four local government (Afijio, Atiba, Oyo-East and Oyo-West) areas.

Gbajabiamila said: “I have been at the lower chamber for about 16 years now, and have not met or seen a lawmaker within the same chamber, especially those newly elected to represent, not only making the waves, but so entirely devoted to the well being of his constituents. Even those lawmakers who have spent three to four years in the House are really finding it difficult to get their bearings right, let alone cope with the arts of legislation, representation and oversight functions.

“It is incredible that in less than one year in the

legislative chamber, Prince Adeniyi has not only proved his mettle as a very good Ambassador of his people, but motions moved on the floor are so thought-provoking that they are being resoundingly supported by other colleagues who are from different ethnic backgrounds, thus making the royal prince to become cynosure of all eyes.”

“ I, therefore, congratulate the people of Oyo metropolis for their wisdom in electing Prince Adeniyi to represent them. He is indeed a source of inspiration and pride of House of Representatives.”

The Majority Leader, who was elated about the empowerment programme, charged the beneficiaries to judiciously utilize the opportunity, in order to become fulfilled individuals in life.

In his address, Adeniyi said his gesture was borne out of need

to improve socio-economic lives of the downtrodden and as well alleviate poverty.

Earlier the Majority Leader, accompanied by another federal lawmaker and son of late former governor, Dapo Adesina, had paid a courtesy visit on the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi 111, in his palace.

Oba Adeyemi, who extolled virtues of Gbajabiamila, described him as “a distinguished legislator par excellence, whose intellect, antecedents and precedents remain centre-points for peace, progress and development of the country”.
