The National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Sen. David Mark, has declared that the party will resist all forms of political intimidation and remain steadfast in its mission.

Mark made the statement during the ADC 2026 National Convention held in Abuja, where thousands of delegates gathered to elect members of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC).

Addressing the convention, Mark emphasised that the party would not be intimidated despite what he described as increasing political pressure.

He said the ADC remains committed to defending democratic values and strengthening opposition politics in Nigeria.

According to him, enduring political movements are often shaped during challenging periods when citizens demand accountability, credible leadership, and meaningful change.

Mark stressed that the struggle goes beyond party interests, describing it as a fight to preserve democracy in the country.

He noted that efforts to weaken the party had instead strengthened internal cohesion and expanded its support base.

The former Senate President added that the ADC is positioning itself as a viable alternative for Nigerians seeking transparent governance and responsible leadership.

He highlighted growing public demand, particularly among young Nigerians, for accountability and inclusive governance.

Mark said the party’s objective is not merely to gain political power but to demonstrate that democracy can deliver tangible benefits to citizens.

He called on opposition figures across political divides to collaborate in addressing national challenges, urging unity in the interest of the country.

He also commended party members for successfully conducting nationwide congresses, noting that the process had strengthened grassroots participation.

The ADC chairman urged newly elected officials to prioritise service, inclusiveness, and accountability in their roles.

He reaffirmed that the party would uphold its constitution and ensure that no member operates above established rules.

Mark assured Nigerians that the ADC would focus on policies that improve citizens’ welfare and promote sustainable development.
