The Deputy Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Canada, Dr Abiola Oshodi, has commended the party for the peaceful and rancor-free change of its national leadership.
Oshodi, who spoke to the News Agency of Nigeria ( NAN) on telephone on Tuesday, said that the change was carried out in a mature manner expected of true leadership.
Sen. Abdullahi Adamu and Sen. Iyiola Omisore have tendered their voluntary resignation letters as the National Chairman and the National Secretary respectively.
“APC Canada deputy chairman, therefore, commends the peaceful and rancor-free change of guard at the National Working Committee (NWC) of our great party, occasioned by the voluntary resignations of Sen. Adamu as National Chairman, and Senator Omisore as National Secretary.
“Sen. Adamu and Sen. Omisore were elected into office in March 2022 and both distinguished men served our party very well.
“They led other members of the NWC to conduct a peaceful presidential primary in April 2022, and also steered the APC to a deserved victory at the Feb. 25, 2023, presidential election,” he stated.
Oshodi, who welcomed Sen. Abubakar Kyari, Deputy Chairman, APC North, who is now the Acting National Chairman, and Mr Festus Fuanter, Deputy National Secretary who is now the Acting National Secretary, said that the upgrade in offices was done in line with the clear provisions of the APC Constitution.
“We commend the NWC on this peaceful transition. It is an attestation to the APC character, history and culture of internal democracy, and its strict adherence to the rule of law.
“I congratulate the new leadership. We pledge our loyalty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, leader of the party, and we are committed to continuing our good working relationship with the new leadership, and other members of the NWC,” he stated.
