From Bode Durojaiye, Oyo.
Eminent citizens and civil society groups have been called upon to rise and rescue defenceless citizens of the country from the tyrannical and despotic rule unleashed on them by President Goodluck Jonathan and his ruling Peoples’ Democratic Party’s terror gangs desperate to rig the March 28 and April 11 general elections.
A forum of public analysts, under the auspices, Vanguard for Justice and Fair Play, made the call in Oyo town at a media briefing.
The forum also called on the international community, including the International Criminal Court, to take tougher sanctions and penalties against the President, his wife, Service chiefs, including the Inspector –General of Police for their conspiratorial roles in Monday’s demonstration by the Oodua Peoples’ Congress faction led by Gani Adams and Niger-Delta militants.
In his address, the acting chairman, Mr. Wale Olaoba, said as panicky as the situation is in the country today, neither the President, his wife, terror gangs nor the likes of Femi Fani-Kayode, Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State, who are pollutants and constitute nuisance values for the country have respect for sanctity of human lives.
“How can you, as a President, and your government be so profligate to the extent of bribing people with dollars and ferrying huge funds around practically to buy votes, and even paid out all of N9 billion to a few Nigerians, with less than two weeks to the elections? Imagine how Jonathan’s terror gangs known as Gani Adams-led Oodua Peoples Congress,
which is also a beneficiary of the N9 billion payout, ostensibly for pipeline protection, unleashed mayhem on innocent citizens in the presence of armed soldiers and police who provided cover to perpetuate criminality, all in the name of second term for the President against the peoples’ wishes. It is indeed sad.
“President Goodluck Jonathan, apart from pledging
total transformation of the country while being sworn in on May 29, 2011, also promised to put the country on the road to democratic stability and set an example for the rest of Africa. However, emerging trend in the polity since the President assumed office indicate that Jonathan is more dangerous than devil, giving rising cases of violence which have claimed several lives’’.
