Ahead of the Abia North Senatorial election re-run, Abians in Diaspora have thrown their weight behind the candidature of the former Governor of Abia State and Progressive People’s Alliance (PPA) candidate, Dr. Orji Kalu.
According to Mr. Emenike Ojukwu, a United- States based ICT consultant, who hosted the frontline businessman-cum-politician and his family to a dinner at his Baltimore residence on Sunday, the people of Abia North are confident that Kalu will use his pedigree to drive the much desired legislative agenda that will improve the well-being of the citizenry.
In his words: “Considering his contributions to humanity , it is logical for Nigerians at home and abroad to support the senatorial ambition of Dr. Orji Kalu.
“Ahead of the re-run, Abians abroad have started returning home to mobilise support for the former governor.
“We have no choice than to support a great personality who has continued to use his resources to fight for the less-privileged in the society , in OUK we stand”.
“I call on my people in Ozuitem and beyond to come out on election day to vote en-masse for Dr. Orji Kalu of the Progressive Peoples’ Alliance (PPA)”, Ojukwu added.
Kalu, while thanking his host, promised not to let Ndigbo down, adding that the people’s welfare will be a top priority in his legislative agenda if elected.
The former governor used the opportunity to caution his rivals on their utterances, noting that hate campaign is capable of causing unnecessary mayhem.
The gathering had in attendance Nigerians in the USA including Dr. & Mrs. Ekenna, Mr and Mrs. John Jurobi, Dr. Paulinus Umeh, Mr. And Mrs. Sam Nwachukwu, Barrister and Mrs. Achebe, among others.
