A cleric, Silas Eke of Kingly Assembly Chapel, has said that Mascot Uzor Kalu possesses the qualities required to fly the flag of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 Abia State governorship election.

Speaking in an interview, Bishop Eke described Mascot Kalu as a candidate with a blend of youth, experience and administrative exposure, noting that his background in economics and business places him in a strong position to drive development.

He stated that Mascot Kalu’s record in public service, particularly his role as a former Chief of Staff, has equipped him with a deep understanding of governance and policy coordination.

According to the cleric, the APC requires a candidate who can unify the party structure across the state and also appeal to a broad base of voters, adding that Mascot Kalu fits that profile.

“Mascot Uzor Kalu represents a bridge between experience and youthful energy. He understands governance, he understands the economy and he has the capacity to mobilise people across Abia State,” Eke said.

He added that the aspirant’s grassroots presence from Ukwa to Arochukwu demonstrates an existing political network that could prove decisive during the election.

Eke further noted that Mascot Kalu’s background in business gives him an edge in addressing economic challenges, particularly in areas of job creation, investment attraction and support for small and medium enterprises.

“In today’s Abia, what we need is someone who can think economically and act decisively. Mascot has shown that he can manage both human and financial resources effectively,” he said.

The cleric also emphasised the importance of internal democracy within the APC, urging the party leadership to either adopt Mascot Kalu through consensus or allow a transparent primary process.

He maintained that giving party members a fair opportunity to decide would strengthen unity and position the APC for a competitive outing in the 2027 governorship race in Abia State.
