Twenty six countries, including Nigeria, are taking part in the 2nd Lagos International Badminton Classics which, began in Lagos on Wednesday.
The event, taking place at the Mobolaji Johnson Sports Centre, Rowe Park, Yaba, would end on July 18.
The countries include England, Czech Republic, Mauritius, India, Italy, U.S., Isreal, Ireland and South Africa. Others are Portugal, Egypt, Austria, Belgium, Germany, Canada, Slovak, Hungary and Turkey.
The rest are Benin Republic, Russia, Poland, Ghana, Slovenia, Uganda, Zambia and hosts, Nigeria.
Kunle Salau, the Secretary, Lagos State Badminton Association (LSBA), disclosed that two countries, France and The Netherlands, “pulled out at the last moment from the event”.
The ongoing competition has recorded an increase in number by 12 countries as compared to the number that participated in the maiden edition in 2014.
