Mr Sesan Olowa, Chairman, Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Area of Lagos State, has called for public-private partnership in developing tourism in the council area.

Olowa made the call during an interview with  Newsmen in Ibeju, on Tuesday in Lagos.

He highlighted the community’s vast tourism potential, saying it had the capacity to boost revenue while attracting local and international tourists.

According to Olowa, notable tourism assets in the area include sacred trees, hospitality hubs, historical relics and mangrove forests.

He added that the council area had aquatic and agro-tourism opportunities.

“If these potentialities are well-utilised, they will significantly enhance government revenue.

“Grassroots tourism assets are natural, not artificial, and they have great market value.

“Properly harnessing these products will place the community on the global tourism map,” he said.

Olowa said that he recently visited the La Campagne Tropicana Beach Resort, Ibeju-Lekki, to explore tourism collaboration with the resort’s founder.

“What I saw at the resort was inspiring, and I am prepared to work with the management to promote tourism at the grassroots.

“The council is eager to showcase its community tourism potential to the world,” he added.
