Presidential aide Tunde Rahman has backed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term, saying projects and economic reforms implemented under the administration provide a strong basis for his re-election.
Rahman, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Special Duties, made the case at the end of an inspection tour of federal and state government projects across Benue and Nasarawa States.
The tour involved members of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors Presidential Media Team, who examined infrastructure and other development projects in both North-Central states.
Rahman Points to Roads, Bridges and Healthcare Projects
Rahman said the delegation saw road construction, bridges and interventions in the healthcare sector during the exercise.
He argued that the projects showed what he described as emerging benefits from economic reforms introduced by the Tinubu administration.
According to Rahman, some of the policies initially caused difficulties for Nigerians, but he maintained that their benefits were becoming increasingly visible through government investments and expanded financial capacity at state level.
He urged Nigerians to assess the administration through projects and other measurable outcomes rather than relying solely on criticism from opposition political groups.
Rahman said the performance of the government should ultimately guide voters when they make their choice in the 2027 presidential election.
Sule, Alia Link Projects to Increased Federal Revenue
Rahman also referenced comments by Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule and Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia, who have credited increased federal allocations with giving their administrations greater room to undertake development projects.
Sule said Nasarawa’s monthly Federation Account allocation had risen significantly following federal economic reforms, creating additional fiscal capacity for roads, education, healthcare, water projects and industrial development.
Similarly, Alia said increased federal revenue had helped Benue invest in infrastructure, meet recurrent obligations and revive previously inactive economic assets.
Rahman argued that such developments strengthened his position that Tinubu should be allowed another term to continue implementing his policies.
Media Team Inspects Benue Infrastructure
Among projects visited in Benue was the strategic Makurdi–Otukpo–9th Mile road corridor, which links communities in Benue with Nasarawa and Enugu States.
The Presidential Media Team also inspected the Otobi Waterworks and other infrastructure projects being undertaken by federal and state authorities.
Another major focus was the revival of Taraku Mills, an agro-processing facility established decades ago that the Benue State Government is working to return to productive use.
Governor Alia said the rehabilitation was intended to strengthen the agricultural value chain, create employment opportunities and provide markets for farmers.
Nasarawa Projects Highlighted During Tour
In Nasarawa, the delegation inspected several projects, including the state secretariat complex, the Shendam Road and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu Interchange, as well as skills-development and flood-control facilities.
The Shendam Road and interchange project has been valued at about N16 billion in reports on the inspection tour.
The team also reviewed the Wing Commander Abdullahi Ibrahim Vocational and Skills Acquisition Centre and infrastructure designed to strengthen transportation and economic activities across the state.
Nasarawa’s developing lithium-processing industry was also included in the tour programme, alongside road projects such as the reconstruction of the Keffi–Nasarawa–Toto–Abaji Road and dualisation of the Keffi–Karu–Abuja corridor.
Rahman Makes Case for Tinubu’s Second Term
Rahman maintained that the projects observed during the tour offered evidence on which Nigerians could evaluate Tinubu’s first-term performance.
He argued that a government judged to have performed well should be given an opportunity to consolidate its programmes through another term.
His comments add to the political debate over Tinubu’s record as attention increasingly shifts toward Nigeria’s 2027 general election, with infrastructure, economic reforms and their impact on living conditions expected to remain major campaign issues.
