2016 Rio Olympics: Dalung assures athletes of better welfare packages

Minister of Youth and Sports, Solomon Dalung, in Port Harcourt, Rivers State said the welfare of Nigerian athletes remains paramount to his administration.
The Minister disclosed this during his visit to High Performance Centre of the University of Port Harcourt.
Dalung, while addressing the members of Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) and the team said he is in office to serve the interest of the athletes.

The Minister said, his meeting with the athletes revealed a lot to him especially the need to provide basic needs to sustain the athletes.

He added that, the Ministry will do everything humanly possible to motivate the athletes in order to enhance their performance.

The Minister thanked the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Ndowa E. S. Lale, for providing facilities, accommodation and warm hospitality for athletes to train ahead of the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio.

Meanwhile, The President of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria, Evangelist Solomon Ogba, said the athletes who would represent the country well at the 2016 Olympics Games in Brazil, as the training tour would begin in February.
