No fewer than 200 million Americans are expected to vote in the November 8 general elections.
The U.S. has no national electoral commission that superintends its elections but the electoral commission of each of the 50 states oversees elections in that state.
The U.S. Federal Election Commission (FEC) said that the commission does not handle voter registration and vote tabulation.
Christian Hilland, FEC’s Deputy Press Officer, said in the U.S. that the commission has jurisdiction over campaign finance.
“The Federal Election Commission has jurisdiction over federal campaign finance laws.
“The administration of elections, which includes voter registration and vote tabulation, is handled at the state and local levels,” Hilland said.
The U.S. Census Bureau for historical voting and registration numbers also did not have the number of 2016 registered voters.
However, TargetSmart, a Democratic political data firm, said more than 200 million voters are registered for the 2016 election.
Tom Bonier, Chief Executive Officer of TargetSmart, said the national registration now stands at 200,081,377 voters.
“There is no current national database of voter registration because each state independently runs its own election.
“However, the country passed the 200 million threshold in recent days as North Carolina, New Hampshire, Nevada and New York reported new voter numbers,” Bonier stated.
Similarly, Statistic Brain, a search statistics database, said the total number of Americans who are eligible to vote in 2016 are 218,959,000.
According to it, the total number of Americans who voted in the 2012 Presidential election was 126,144,000.
The U.S. presidential election of 2016, scheduled for Tuesday, November 8, 2016, would be the 58th four-year period U.S. presidential election.
The leading presidential candidates are Republican party’s candidate, Donald Trump and his Democratic party rival, Senator Hillary Clinton, while Libertarian Gary Johnson and Green Jill Stein have been less visible.
The winner of the election would determine the 45th President and 48th Vice President of the U.S., who will be inaugurated on January 20, 2017.
Meanwhile, the Trump Campaign Team said small donations to his campaign totaled $100 million in October.
“Donald J. Trump raised $100 million in small donations in October”, his campaign announced in a statement on Thursday.
Similarly, in a statement accompanying Trump’s statement, his digital director, Brad Parscale, described the $100 million mark as an amazing milestone.
“Hitting a $100 million goal in October is an amazing milestone for the campaign as it shows how Trump’s message is resonating with millions of voters across the country.”
With only six days left in the presidential race, Clinton and Trump are working overtime to turn out voters, but their power to shift the direction of the race diminishes every day.
Clinton is outspending Trump in television advertisement in the final week of campaign, from about $14 million to $32 million.
This came as both candidates hit battle grounds in a tightened race in Florida, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Arizona and Nevada.
Clinton’s $18 million last-minute spending included about $5 million in additional airtime in Florida, a tight state that Donald Trump must win to reach the White House.
She is also putting money on the airwaves in Democrats stronghold states, seeking to deny Trump inroads into states seen as her wall of defence.
The Democratic candidate’s additional funds is also aimed to improve her reach in several key battlegrounds, such as Ohio, Pennsylvania and North Carolina.
Her campaign is also going up in Colorado, where it last advertised in late July, and Virginia, where it last ran advertisement in early August.
She is also running her first advertisement of the general election in Michigan and New Mexico.
