The police, in Lagos on Tuesday, arraigned two mechanics – Femi Mayomi and Sulaimon Semiu – before a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing an Audi 80 saloon car, worth N800,000.

Mayomi, 39 and Semiu, 35, are facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing, to which they, however, pleaded not guilty.

The Prosecutor, Insp Edet Ekpo, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on April 24, at 12.30. a.m. at a mechanic workshop, opposite Nigerian French Language Village, Badagry.

Ekpo said that the defendants stole the car, belonging to the complainant, Mr Matthew Oluwasegun.

He said that the complainant gave the car to Semiu to repair and that he conspired with Mayomi to steal it.
