100 days: Fayose celebrating impunity, violence, says APC

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State has described 100 days of Governor Ayodele Fayose in office as a celebration of fortunes reversal, saying all the gains of Governors Segun Oni and Dr Kayode Fayemi administrations have been eroded by Fayose’s government of deceit founded on impunity and violence.
APC Publicity Secretary, Taiwo Olatubosun, said, in a statement, that the experience of Ekiti people in the first 100 days of the governor in office ‎had shown clearly that ‎there was nothing to celebrate in terms of achievements, stressing that what was not in doubt was a slide to the governor’s inglorious past hallmarked by dubious projects execution, attacks on the opposition and arbitrariness in governance process.
He said while both Oni and Fayemi raised the bar in modern governance founded on rule of law and due process, Fayose had no respect for the rule of law, due process and civil approach in government and the governed relations.
“For him, violence is an important instrument of governance. He employed violence to cripple the judiciary when his thugs invaded the courts and beat up the judges to scuttle hearing on his eligibility case,” Olatubosun said, adding that under his supervision, seven members of PDP were given security cover to commit illegalities by purportedly removing Speaker Adewale Omirin and facilitated illegal sittings of seven PDP members against the law.
The APC spokesman said while Fayose was deceiving Ekiti people with fake projects within 100 days, Fayemi had concrete projects he executed to the applause of Ekiti people during his 100 days in office.
‎”Within the same period during Fayemi’s administration, the former governor worked harmoniously with the PDP-led House of Assembly and within the period passed eight bills into law. He implemented free health missions across the state and free education in primary and secondary schools. He purchased 100 Suzuki cars and 40 buses to ease transportation pains‎, 100 transformers were procured to boost electricity supply while several international development partners and agencies had been visiting Ekiti State to lend support for the state’s development agenda.
“As we speak, the House of Assembly is not in existence in Ekiti State. Violence is official policy. Transparency is out of the window. Ekiti people are still contending with the refunds on some Federal Government’s projects executed by the state. While Fayose denied ever collecting N22b refund, including the N2b ecological fund, a member of his own party, Prince Dayo Adeyeye, confirmed that refunds were indeed made to Ekiti State on some federal projetcs, yet the governor said he does not have money to pay workers’ salaries.
“We raised the alarm when it was discovered that PDP presidential campaign buses allocated to Ekiti State were being resold illegally to the state government. Nineteen of those buses were donated to the police few days ago for security duties as part of Fayose’s achievements.”
He accused the governor of inflating the cost of the waste bins he bought to a whopping N20 million each instead of the market value of N2 million, while he gave out contract for repainting the Government House to his blood brother for N200 million.
Accusing Fayose of falsehood in claiming Fayemi’s administration’s projects as his projects within 100 days, Olatubosun said: “The asphalt overlay at Fayose Market he commissioned is an MDG project already paid for by the Fayemi administration. ‎The asphalt plant he “commissioned” was bought and paid for by Fayemi’s administration. Fayose only received the equipment when they were shipped into Nigeria.
“The Mathew Street road is the joke of the century as Fayose only fixed the culvert and graded some portions of the road which he now commissioned as a project. This is nothing short of taking Ekiti people for a ride. It is chicanery of the highest form. Now that it has been established that Fayose did nothing in his first 100 days in office, we wish to say that so far, Fayose has set back the hand of clock of progress in Ekiti State through cloudy management of public funds and violence on the good people of Ekiti State, including taking from the poor to expand the coast of his mindless acquisition of wealth.
“Credible evidence shows that the governor is acquiring landed properties in choice areas of the state.‎ A plot of land opposite Fayose market has just been acquired‎ by the governor. How can Fayose take another man’s projects as his projects? What is he doing with Ekiti money running into billions? Why is he holding such large sums of money and yet he can’t pay salary? Are all these what Fayose promised during his campaign?” Olatubosun wondered.
