10 hoodlums arraigned over Oyo mayhem

Man arraigned for beating mother-in-law, injuring her

For their alleged role in the mayhem unleashed on residents of Oyo, Oyo State last Sunday, 10 hoodlums were arraigned on Wednesday at a Chief Magistrate’s Court.
The first two suspects, Tunde Oyeleke Olatunde and Mutiu, were arrested at Adesina area and charged with conspiracy, stealing and unlawful possession of dangerous weapons.
They pleaded not guilty and were each granted bail
by the Chief Magistrate, Olaide Hamzat, with a sum of N100,000 and two sureties in like sum who must be their relations resident within the court jurisdiction .
The Chief Magistrate, who adjourned the case till February 3,
also ordered the sureties to submit two passports each for bail
applications.
Another two suspects, Toib Abdurasheed and Mutiu Semiu, arrested at Iseke area, Oyo West Local Government were arraigned for similar offences.
They also pleaded not guilty.
The presiding Chief Magistrate, Olaide Hamzat, while adjourning the case, granted each of the accused persons bail in the sum of N150,000 with two sureties in the like sum.
The sureties, he ruled, must be relations of the accused who reside within the jurisdiction of the court.
The last batch of six suspects – Olayiwola Segun, Ramoni Sakiru, Habeb Adesina, Rilwan Kazeem, Lukman Quadri and Ismail Mojeed – were arraigned on 11-count charge bordering on disruption of public peace and destruction of 13 vehicles during the rampage.
All the accused pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Chief Magistrate Hamzat granted each of the criminal suspect a bail of N200,000 and two sureties in the like sum, who must be their relations and resident within the court jurisdiction.
Adjourning the case till February 10, Hamzat ordered the sureties to submit two passport photographs each for bail applications.
Meanwhile, a combined team of anti-riot, special anti-robbery squad and regular officers and men of the police from
Durbar, Ojongbodu and Atiba police stations, led by the Area Commander, Leye Oyediran, have commenced a manhunt for other suspects.
