Zamfara Commissioner of Police, Mr Kolo Yusuf, has visited the temporary orientation camp of the National Youths Service Corps (NYSC) at Government Science Secondary School, Gusau.

This is contained in a statement in Gusau on Friday by the Public Relations Officer of the Police Command, SP Muhammad Shehu.

The permanent orientation camp, Tsafe, was transferred to Government Science Secondary School, Gusau, over a year ago following its closure due to security threats.

The PPRO said, “the visit to the temporary site of the NYSC orientation camp located at Government Science Secondary School, Gusau by the Commissioner of Police was part of an effort to safeguard lives and properties of corps members deployed to Zamfara.

“The visit was for strengthening the existing security emplacement of the camp with a view to ensuring security and safety of all the corps members as well as the staff of the NYSC in the camp.

“The CP, while addressing the corps members, urged them to be security conscious in the camp and at their places of primary assignments,” he said.

The Police Commissioner assured of prompt response to any distress call from the camp and urged the corps members and NYSC management to report any suspicious character to the police.

Responding, the NYSC Coordinator in the state, Abdussalam Alhassan, expressed appreciation to the police commissioner and promised to work hand in hand with the police to ensure hitch-free orientation.

Alhassan appealed to the Zamfara Government to renovate and transfer the scheme’s orientation camp to its permanent site in Tsafe, with the improvement of security across the state.

He made the appeal recently at the swearing in ceremony of the orientation course of 2023 Batch “A“ Stream 1 corps members deployed to the state.

“I am using this medium to solicit Zamfara government’s intervention in the renovation of permanent orientation camp in Tsafe, to enable us to resume full operations,” he said
