Yobe governor accuses civil servants of selling employment letter for N300,000

If your answer is yes, there is an opportunity for you in Yobe State to get an employment letter and begin work immediately in the civil service.
But not without parting with N300,000 per employment letter.
That is the height of fraud being perpetrated by some civil servants in the North-East state.
According to Governor Ibrahim Gaidam, Directors of Personnel Management (DPMs) in many local governments are behind the scam.
Some of the local government where the fraud is prevalent are Nguru, Bade, Fika, Fune and Potiskum
Gaidam said: “Employment letters are being sold as high as N300,000 to applicants by some local government officials”.
He spoke in Damaturu, the state capital, while swearing in all the newly-appointed 17 local government chairmen in the state.
He continued: “The least of the price of the appointment letters is N70,000 and the highest is N300,000 at Bade local government. Some Directors of Personnel Management are behind this scam. You are now the chairmen of these councils and you have the mandate to immediately conduct verification exercises to weed out ghost workers in the respective councils and fish out those behind this scam”.
The six-month tenure of the former local government chairmen expired last December.
Gaidam further told the new chairmen: “You are taking over the affairs of the respective councils at a time when the economic situation in the country is pathetic as a result of fall in revenue of government at all levels. This has put local governments in a difficult situation with some of them unable to pay staff salaries. So, you must accord priorities to most-deserving areas only so that you can deliver dividend of democracy to our people”.
