Yakasai cautions Obasanjo over Jonathan bashing

tanko_yakassaiAn elder statesman, Alhaji Tanko Yakasai, on Wednesday cautioned former President Olusegun Obasanjo over his public criticism of the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan.

A statement signed by Yakasai in Kano, said the comments credited to the former president during the recent Jigawa Economic Summit was unfortunate and uncalled for.

It stated that as a former leader, Obasanjo has unfettered access to the president and should not therefore be using public forums to castigate the government.

“Obasanjo has every opportunity without knocking on the doors of Mr President to seek audience with him and offer whatever advice he has.

“The door is also widely open for Obasanjo to criticise any of the administration’s policy that he has cause to disagree with,‘’ the statement added.

It commended Jonathan for the open manner he rendered the account of his stewardship during this year’s Democracy Day celebration.

“This is a remarkable departure from the previous methods of staging children parade at play grounds, which hardly impact on the wellbeing of the generality of our people.

“The innovation deserves commendation by all patriots in order to encourage other chief executives in other tiers of government to emulate it.

“I will therefore recommend this pattern to our elected leaders all over the country,’’ the statement further said.
