Lagos Bus Services Limited (LBSL) has strongly criticised the actions of two bus captains accused of illegally siphoning fuel from company vehicles.
The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the company, Idowu Oguntona, condemned the incident on Monday in Lagos, reaffirming the organisation’s commitment to accountability and operational integrity.
In a statement issued by the company’s Public Affairs Officer, Olawale Afolabi, Oguntona explained that the alleged misconduct occurred on March 10 and was brought to the attention of the company through a video recorded by a concerned member of the public.
According to him, the suspects were quickly identified and arrested before being handed over to security authorities for further investigation.
He added that the two individuals were subsequently arraigned before a Mobile Court on March 12 and remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre pending the next court hearing scheduled for April 22.
Oguntona stressed that the organisation maintains a strict policy against unethical behaviour and will not tolerate actions that undermine public trust or misuse government resources.
He noted that the company remains committed to transparency, professionalism and the enforcement of high operational standards within the public transport system.
The LBSL boss also commended the citizen who recorded the incident, saying public vigilance plays a crucial role in safeguarding the integrity of the transport network.
He warned that any employee found guilty of misconduct, including theft or fraud, would face disciplinary action and possible prosecution in accordance with the law.
Oguntona said the swift response to the incident demonstrates the company’s determination to uphold ethical practices and protect the resources entrusted to it by the government and people of Lagos State.
