Two killed, three missing, policemen injured in Ogun auto crashes

Personnel of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) are still battling to recover bodies of some passengers in an 18-seater Toyota Hiace bus, marked Ondo AKR 474 XA, that plunged into Omoh River, J4/Ogbere axis, Benin/Ore Expressway on Wednesday night.
While bodies of two of the passengers have been recovered, three others are still missing.
Freedom Online learned that the commercial bus, which was fully loaded with goods, was on its way to Okitipupa, Ondo State from Idumota, Lagos State.
Ogun State FRSC Commander, Adetunji Adegoke, confirmed the incident.
Also on Thursday, nine pe‎ople, including six policemen escorting a bullion van, were injured in auto crashes along the Abeokuta-Siun-Sagamu Expressway.
Public Relations Officer (PRO) of Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), Babatunde Akinbiyi, ‎said five police escorts were seriously injured in one of the accidents.
According to Akinbiyi, ‎one of the accidents occurred about 1:15pm along the Abeokuta-Siun-Sagamu Expressway. It involved a police escort van belonging to WEMA Bank with registration number Lagos BP 542 KSF.
He said ‎the driver of the vehicle and six police officers were injured.
Other crashes, according to him, involved a Mazda car with registration number Ogun WDE 773 AAA which occurred about 12:29pm at Orile Imo village; and a Toyota Camry car with registration number Lagos KJA 96 BG which crashed near Onipepeye village about 12:50pm.
Akinbiyi added that a lone accident involving a truck marked Lagos APP 301 XN occurred along the same Onipepeye area about 1:30pm
He blamed over-speeding for the crashes, urging motorists to always drive with caution.
