Turkish police carried out raids on Thursday against businesses in 18 provinces, with detention orders for 187 businessmen.
The action, according to the report, was in the crackdown over last month’s coup, which had shifted to the private sector.
Prosecutors were also seeking to freeze the assets of all 187 people, in line with similar measures taken in the past weeks.
The government said that the wave of arrests was targeting followers of Fethullah Gulen, the U.S.-based Turkish preacher who the government blamed for the July 15 coup attempt.
Gullen has denied the charges.
Among those sought in the latest sweeps were members of the family that run the Gulluoglu baklava stores, a famous chain selling Turkish sweets.
Different media had reported that 60 people were brought into custody following the raids which included the son-in-law of Istanbul Mayor, Kadir Topbas.
Prime Minister Binali Yildirim told state-run broadcaster, TRT, that ever since the attempted coup happened, 20,355 people had been arrested formally, out of some 40,000 people who were detained.
Turkey has suspended and fired no fewer than 81,000 civil servants since the coup attempt and has begun to focus on businesses allegedly linked to Gulen.
