Armed robbers attacked players and officials of Nigeria Premier League current champions, Enyimba FC of Aba, on Monday afternoon on their way to the pre-season Super 4 in Kaduna.
They were robbed of their valuables like phones and cash at Okene, Kogi State, but no one was hurt during the incident, Enyimba announced on their official Twitter account.
Last year, Kano Pillars were attacked by robbers on their way to a league game in the eastern part of Nigeria. Several players including star striker Gambo Mohammed were shot.
Two-time African champions Enyimba will feature in a pre-season tournament in northern Nigeria to prepare for a CAF Champions League preliminary round fixture next month.

Warri Wolves, Nasarawa United and cup winners Akwa United are the other teams who will feature in the competition, which starts on Wednesday.

“We can confirm that our team bus was attacked by armed robbers this afternoon in Okene, Kogi State on our way to Kaduna for the ‎Super Four pre-season tournament.
“Thankfully, there were no injuries during this unfortunate incident. Players and officials were, however, stripped of all valuables,” the tweets informed.
