Football stakeholders in Ondo State have congratulated the newly inaugurated executives of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) in the state.
The stakeholders are; the State Football Association, former Chairman of Ondo State Football Agency and the management of Sunshine Queens Football Club.
The new executives of SWAN Ondo State Chapter were sworn in by the South-West Zonal Vice President, Ayodeji Ogunsakin, on Friday in Akure.
The FA in a congratulatory message signed by its Secretary, Ibukun Adetoyinbo on Sunday in Akure, said SWAN in the state would do well with the track record and experience of its Chairman, Segun Giwa in sports reporting.
Adetoyinbo said the state FA, under its Chairman Otunba Dele Ajayi, is confident that SWAN would live up beyond the expectations in all ramifications not only in Ondo State but at the national level.
He said Giwa while serving as the Media Officer of the FA, displayed optimum professionalism.
Aladetoyinbo said the FA is ready to cooperate with new executives SWAN in the state to take sports and football in particular to greater heights.
Also, a former Chairman of Ondo State Football Agency (ODSFA), Otunba Akinsola Akinbobola, while congratulating the new executives, urged them to make peace, unity and progress in the association a front burner issue.
Akinbobola in a congratulatory message he personally signed, charged the Giwa-led executives to uphold the tenets of professionalism in their reporting.
He charged the new leadership of the association to think out of the box and come up with brilliant ideas that would contribute robustly to the development and growth of sports in the state and Nigeria in general.
The former Special Adviser to Dr Olusegun Mimiko on Political and Mobilization Matters commended all the players in the process that led to the emergence of the new executives.
“I urged the new executives to bring all the members to be on the same page for the development of the association, there should be no victor and no vanquish.
“All of you must as a matter of necessity work together to make the association truly the voice of the voiceless, the eyes of stakeholders in all ramifications.
“Once again, accept my warm congratulations and I wish the executives successful tenure,” he said
Also, the Team Manager of Sunshine Queens Football Club, Kehinde Odogun in a statement urged the new executives to roll up their sleeves and swing into action that will promote sports development in the state.
Odogun advised the executives to ensure unity in the association.
